PAW Patrol Live! "Race to the Rescue" Coming To The Merriam Theater, PA In March 2017

Your child’s favorite Pups are headed to The Merriam Theater in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania this March!

Presented by VStar Entertainment Group, and based on Nickelodeon's number-one CG-animated preschool series that kids love, the first-ever, musical, live action version of the animated canines will take the stage at Philadelphia’s Merriam Theater with PAW Patrol Live! "Race to the Rescue"!

PAW Patrol Live! "Race to the Rescue" brings everybody's favorite pups to the stage for an action-packed, high-energy, musical adventure. When Mayor Goodway goes missing during the day of The Great Adventure Bay Race, Ryder, Chase, Marshall, Rocky, Rubble, Zuma, Skye and Everest come to the rescue! The 75-minute production, which includes two acts and an intermission, shows that "no job is too big, no pup is too small," and shares lessons for all ages about citizenship, social skills and problem-solving as the characters each use their unique skills and teamwork.

The performance features up-tempo music and dance, and a brand new cleverly written original script that is a good introduction to live theater for kids. Classic theatrical scenery along with a high-tech video wall visually transports families to an authentic PAW Patrol environment, including locations from the TV series, like Adventure Bay, The Lookout, Seal Island, Farmer Yumi's farm and Jake's Mountain. Special interactive video allows the audience to participate via interviews, solve clues and puzzles with the Pups, follow Mayor Goodway and much more.

PAW Patrol Live! "Race to the Rescue", the first touring live show starring Ryder and the team of pups, features innovative costuming. Using Bunraku, puppetry elements are built into costumes worn by performers to create life-size pups that wag their tails, blink their eyes, move their mouths and engage the audience throughout their adventure. The costume design brings a fun, realistic parallel between the animated series and the live show. Each pup's all-important Pup Pack and vehicle also makes an appearance during the show.

Actress Jessica Threet, who plays Rocky the mixed-breed recycling pup in the Paw Patrol Live! cast, offered her take on the popularity of the TV series: “Kids love animals. I’ve always been a lover of animals myself. It’s endearing to watch these pups save the day,” Threet told Ticket.

Led by Ryder, a 10-year-old boy, the plucky pups are rescue Dogs - each one inspired by a real-world job such as a fire fighter, police officer and a construction worker. Rocky, who is known for being handy, is the Pup who likes to say: “Why do you wanna trash it, when you can stash it?”

In “Race to the Rescue,” the team is called in to find Mayor Goodway, who is supposed to be competing in the Great Adventure Bay Race against Mayor Humdinger of neighboring Foggy Bottom, but is nowhere to be found.

“The show itself is so cute. I love interacting with kids. We have them ruff with us and shout with us,” Threet said. “When all the children are yelling for your character, it makes you feel like a rock star.”

Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts President and CEO Anne Ewers said in a press release: “We treasure the opportunities we have to introduce children to live theater and we’re certain that Paw Patrol fans will love this unique chance to interact with their favorite characters. This beloved canine crew teaches children to use their unique abilities and teamwork to solve everyday challenges.”
