Russell Wilson To Host Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Sports 2016; To Premiere 7/17 On Nick USA

On top of clinching two Super Bowl wins, Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson has also managed to clinch his second straight title as host of Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Sports 2016!


Seattle Seahawks' quarterback Russell Wilson announced as host of Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Sports 2016.

The 27-year-old, who has had a big year so far with his engagement to singer Ciara and being chosen to speak at his alma mater, the University of Wisconsin-Madison this past weekend, will return to host Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Sports awards show this year. The American football star made the announcement Wednesday morning on his official Instagram profile page. (Watch the video below.)

UPDATE: Just Jared Jr. and skateboarder Jagger Eaton (Jagger Eaton's Mega Life) have unveiled the nominees for the "Don't Try This At Home" category for the upcoming 2016 Kids Choice Sports Awards!

The nominees for “Don’t Try This At Home” are: Alise Post (Professional BMX Racer); Ashley Caldwell (Professional Aerial Skier); Danny Davis (Professional Snowboarder); Nyjah Huston (Professional Skateboarder); Ronda Rousey (UFC, MMA Fighter); and Satoko Miyahara (Professional Figure Skater)!

"I've got some big news!" he told fans in an exuberant video while eating a "hearty" breakfast before football practice. "I'm coming back! Millions of millions of kids, it’s going to be so much fun."


Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Sports awards is the only show that celebrates kids and families' love of sports and top professional athletes. Nickelodeon will announce the nominees of their third annual Kids' Choice Sports awards on Thursday 19th May 2016. Fans will also be able to start voting for their picks on Nick.com and the Nick App beginning Thursday.

Last year's show, Kids' Choice Sports 2015, honored athletes including Golden State Warriors two-time all-star Stephen Curry as best male athlete and Olympic medalist/gymnast Gabby Douglas as the most enthusiastic player. Kids' Choice Sports 2015 also honored five-time World Series Champion Derek Jeter with the Legend Award in recognition of his unmatched talent and sportsmanship on and off the field. Upon receiving his golden mohawked blimp, Jeter was showered from head to toe in gold slime falling from a New York Yankees sign high above the stage.

This years event will be taped live from UCLA's Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles on Thursday 14th July 2016 and will premiere on Nickelodeon USA on Sunday 17th July 2016 at 8:00pm ET/PT.
