MI CASA & MORGAN BEATBOX TO PERFORM AT THE FIRST SOUTH AFRICAN NICKFEST!!

CATCH THE TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES, SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS AND DORA, BOOTS & DIEGO ON STAGE TOO! ON 13 &14 JUNE 2015 AT THE GLOBE AT SILVERSTAR

Johannesburg, 18 May 2015 - Kids & family channel Nickelodeon (DStv channel 305), Tsogo Sun and the Nelson Mandela Children's Hospital Trust have revealed the performer line-up for the first ever South African NickFest. The spectacular, family friendly festival, designed for the whole family to enjoy together, comes to The Globe at Silverstar on Saturday 13 & Sunday 14 June.

A weekend of endless entertainment and excitement for the entire family, NickFest has handpicked out some of the country's top performers to mark this awesome, slimy occasion. Stars already lined up include Mi Casa, who will captivate audiences with their funky house grooves on Sunday 14 June. Festival goers can also experience the astonishing vocal talent of South African beatbox champion, Morgan Beatbox on both Saturday and Sunday.

The fun continues all day long with energetic teen group The Buzz keeping things in tune with their "pitch perfect" renditions of everybody's favourite hits from golden oldies to Katy Perry… Talented kids get their time in the spotlight as the Tsogo Sun Arts Academy All Stars gives a powerhouse dance performance to international and South African favourite songs. This group of promising and inspirational youngsters is part of The Tsogo Sun Arts Academy programme, which currently supports 480 children across 12 underprivileged schools in Diepsloot and Mayfair in Gauteng, providing them with basic drama, dance and other art disciplines, as well as carefully structured life skills course that empower the youngsters to make sound choices throughout their lives. Further performers will be announced shortly.

There's fun on tap for all ages as NickFest delights kids and bigger kids (parents) in an out-of-this world Nickelodeon wonderland packed with mesmerizing entertainers, from towering stilt walkers, to lightning-quick jugglers, imaginative face painters and gravity-defying uni-cyclists. There will be designated areas for pre-schoolers in the Nick Jr. area, with soft play areas and puzzles; kids in the Nicktoons area can climb the scary (but fun) Monster Wall and participate in a speed-testing balloon pop; tweens/teens in the Nickelodeon area will be entertained with cool magic tricks and a massive climbing wall for the brave at heart. Nickelodeon superstars SpongeBob SquarePants, Dora the Explorer with her friends, Boots and Diego and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will also perform on stage with musical performances guaranteed to delight kids and parents. Lucky attendees at NickFest will also be able to have meet & greets with their favourite Nickelodeon characters!

And of course it wouldn't be a NickFest without tons of Nickelodeon's iconic green gooey slime! It's going to be everywhere! Get ready for the slime of your lives, don't wear your Sunday best and do bring towels, and maybe even a change of clothing, because there's a good chance you're going to get slimed too! When you are not getting covered in the goopy stuff yourself, watch some of your favourite celebrities get doused instead, as they help to raise funds for the Nelson Mandela Children's Hospital Trust (NickFest Celebrity Slime Challenge contributions will go toward the current construction of the third pediatric hospital in South Africa, in Parktown, Johannesburg).

Tasania Parsadh, Channel Head, Nickelodeon, Africa, says "We are very excited to bring this talent-packed lineup to The Globe at Silverstar over the NickFest weekend, that will form an upbeat soundtrack for 4,000 kids and parents at this unique, fun (and slime!) filled day out!" Tickets for NickFest are on sale at Computicket for R110 per ticket. Children under 2 are free! A percentage of funds from ticket sales will be donated to the Nelson Mandela Children's Hospital Trust to aid sick children.

Food and beverages will be on sale at the venue; no food is allowed inside the entertainment area.
