Nickelodeon UK May Rename "Nick Jr. 2" To "Nick Jr. Too" On Monday 3rd November 2014

The Virgin Media and Smallworld news blog Media Boy Blog is reporting that Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) UK and Ireland are rumoured to be planning to rename Nickelodeon UK and Ireland's second popular preschool channel "Nick Jr. 2" to "Nick Jr. Too" on Monday 3rd November 2014!

UPDATE: Nickelodeon UK has updated their "How to Get Nick" and "How to Get Nick Jr." pages on nick.co.uk and nickjr.co.uk to reflect Nick Jr. 2's new channel name, Nick Jr. Too!


Please note, however, that this Nickelodeon News is currently unconfirmed by Nickelodeon UK & Eire.

The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and Honeywell Team Up With Tia Mowry-Hardrict To Launch Innovative Abduction Prevention Program

Halloween is a fun-filled time for kids and parents alike, but it is also a holiday that requires a mindset of being safe. The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and Honeywell Inc. have announced in the following press release, from PRNewswire, that they are teaming up with Nickelodeon Star Tia Mowry-Hardrict ("Instant Mom") to launch KidSmartz, a brand-new program that aims to keep kids safe on Halloween and all year-round!


According to the FBI, police received more than 400,000 reports of missing children last year in the United States. KidSmartz is a personal safety program that educates parents, teachers and other trusted adults and law enforcement about preventing abduction. The program empowers kids in grades K-5 to practice safer behaviors in ways that are fun, innovative and easy-to-implement.

Through the use of videos and engaging animations, KidSmartz helps teach critical safety information to children. The foundation of the KidSmartz curriculum focuses on the four rules of personal safety:

1. Check First
2. Take a Friend
3. Say "No" and Find Help
4. Tell a Trusted Adult

Parents, educators and other trusted adults can find instructional resources such as free classroom lesson plans, take-home printable materials for families, safety checklists and engaging and animated videos to empower kids to practice safer behaviors and reinforce the four rules of personal safety.

KidSmartz reinvents the concepts and methods developed in 2005 for the "Got 2B Safe! Think Smart and Take Charge" program, Honeywell's first nationwide classroom-based child abduction prevention program for third-graders launched in partnership with NCMEC. This fall Got2BSafe! will be expanded to impact even more children thanks to the next generation of the program — KidSmartz.

To encourage educators to utilize the official KidSmartz website, teachers who download the KidSmartz Education Toolkit will automatically be entered for a chance to win a USD$250 gift card that can be used for purchasing school supplies. Hulu Expands Agreement With Viacom To Add More Content From Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, MTV, VH1, TVLand, Spike, BET and Logo

Viacom Expands Program Offerings To Hulu

Today’s announcement doesn’t say how much Viacom will get as it expands the amount of programming it offers on Hulu. But the deal likely will contribute to the debate over whether the entertainment company’s streaming arrangements weaken its appeal to cable and satellite companies.

The update to the alliance which began in 2011 will add lots of Nickelodeon titles on Hulu. “That means that, soon, viewers will be able to stream episodes of classic series such as Invader Zim, The Ren & Stimpy Show, Drake & Josh, Hey Arnold!, and many more,” Hulu Head of Content Craig Erwich says in a blog post about the deal. Nickelodeon also will provide Spanish-language versions of series including SpongeBob SquarePants and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

The terms also add library episodes of shows from Comedy Central, MTV, VH1, BET, Logo, Spike, and TVLand. That will include full seasons of Key & Peele, Drunk History, Ridiculousness, Tosh.0, Kroll Show, Inside Amy Schumer, Catfish, Ink Master, 16 & Pregnant, Teen Mom 2, Snooki & JWoww, The Hills, The Jersey Shore, Basketball Wives, Love & Hip Hop, and Mob Wives. “We are also adding select scripted series including Comedy Central’s Workaholics, MTV’s Faking It, and TVLand’s Hot In Cleveland,” Erwich says.

He adds that Hulu “will continue to be a go-to destination to stream The Daily Show With Jon Stewart” and The Colbert Report. MTV’s Awkward and Happyland will be available in their current seasons but on a 21-day delay — not, as Hulu initially said, the day after new episodes air.

Viacom’s new deal follows the announcement that it will support Sony’s planned streaming service. Several small cable companies cited the easy availability of the company’s shows as one reason why they decided to do without its channels.

Viaplay Acquires Video-On-Demand Rights To Raft Of Popular Nickelodeon Shows For Nordic Region

The Sweden-based international entertainment group Modern Times Group has announced the exciting Nickelodeon Europe news in the following press release, from MTG's official website, that the Swedish media company's Viaplay has secured the exclusive stand-alone video on demand (VOD) rights to a raft of programming from Nickelodeon, the number-one entertainment brand for kids and families, in the Nordic region until 2020! The deal makes Viaplay's kids offering the strongest in the region and viewers will have access to thousands of episodes and movies every month.


Starting Wednesday 1st October 2014, all Viaplay subscribers in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland have exclusive access to a huge selection of hit live-action and animated Nickelodeon series. Nickelodeon UK And KiCK! Magazine Release "Footy Quacks" Episode Six - Crystal Palace Vs. West Bromwich Albion F.C.

To celebrate Nicktoons UK and Ireland, Nick UK's animation and action channel, showing Nickelodeon's brand-new bread-tastic original animated buddy comedy series (Nicktoon) "Breadwinners" weekdays at 4:30pm, Nickelodeon UK and KiCK! have unveiled the sixth all-new episode of their brand-new weekly Football-themed web series called "Footy Quacks"!

Nickelodeon Picks Up New Comedy "Animal Rescue Show" From TV Executive Tracy Katsky

The entertainment news website Deadline.com is reporting the exciting Nickelodeon news in the following article that television executive Tracy Katsky has sold Nickelodeon, the number-one entertainment brand for kids and families, a brand-new multi-camera comedy series titled "Animal Rescue Show"!


The show centers on 12-year-old Taylor who has her life turned upside down when her single mother, in an attempt to "help" her make more friends, signs up their animal rescue facility as a place where her outrageous classmates can come work and receive community service hours for school. The series comes from writers Erika Keastle and Patrick McCarthy ("Good Luck Charlie").

The deal reunites WME-repped Katsky, a well respected development executive who is currently in a pod deal with Aaron Kaplan's Kapital Entertainment, with Nickelodeon, where she spent four years as the networks Senior Vice President (SVP) of Development & Original Programming:

Five months into her one-year pod deal with Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment, Tracy Katsky has sold six comedies to broadcast and kapitalcable networks, including a half-hour starring comedian Pete Correale at CBS and projects from Ajay Sahgal and Claudia Lonow. On the heels of their successful first selling season together, Katsky and Kaplan have extended their deal for a second year.

The pact with KatCo marked the first pod deal for Kapital Entertainment which has been making strides toward becoming a full-fledged studio that serves as an umbrella for independent production companies. It was followed by a similar agreement between Kapital and Sharon Horgan’s Merman Films.

Nickelodeon Movies' "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" Tops UK Box Office

The licensing business news website Licensing.biz and Screen International, a leading film industry resource, are reporting the very exciting Nickelodeon Movies news in the following articles that Nickelodeon Movies and Paramount Pictures' brand-new "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" movie jumped straight to the top of the UK box office upon opening at cinemas across the UK on Friday 17th October 2014! The film topped the box office with a £4.8m debut, including £1.56m in previews!


Nickelodeon and Paramount's reboot posted a $7.7m (£4.8m) bow from the 522 cinemas across the UK the movie is currently showing in, including $2.5m (£1.56m) in previews. The movies' Friday 17th to Sunday 19th October 2014 takings of $5.2m (£3.2m) would have also seen it top the chart!


The result marks director Jonathan Liebesman's best-ever UK opening, surpassing "Wrath of the Titans", which bowed with $3.5m (£2.2m) from 466 sites in 2012. That film is also Liebesman's highest UK grosser at $12.6m (£7.8m), a tally that TMNT will easily overtake.

Additionally, "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" has already outgrossed the popular franchises' 2007 CG-animated reboot "TMNT" ($4.7m/£2.9m), and its opening bodes well for the film during the upcoming half-term school holidays with little direct competition.

Following the movies' hugely successful opening weekend in the USA in August 2014, Nick Movies and Paramount announced they will be making a sequel TMNT film, which is currently set for release in theaters (cinemas) on Friday 3rd June 2016!
