Nickelodeon USA's NickMom Picks Up 13 Episodes Of "Instant Mom", The TV Block's First Original Scripted Comedy Series Starring Tia Mowry-Hardrict

Nickelodeon has announced in the following Press Release, from PRNewswire, the Nickelodeon News that Nick Jr. USA's evening programming block NickMom (stylized as nickmom) has ordered 13 episodes of "Instant Mom" (working title), the primetime TV block's first original scripted comedy series, which will star Classic Nickelodeon UK Star Tia Mowry-Hardrict, who portrayed 'Tia Landry' in the Classic Nick UK comedy series "Sister Sister"! The Nick News was announced by Bronwen O'Keefe, Senior Vice President, NickMom. The half-hour, multi-camera series is set to premiere later this year on NickMom and repeat on Nickelodeon USA's nighttime programming block, Nick at Nite (stylized as nick@nite). Nickelodeon ordered a pilot for the potential new Nick At Nite family comedy series "Instant Mom" in 2012.

"Instant Mom" will follow young party girl Stephanie (Mowry-Hardrict, "Sister, Sister") who trades in cosmos for carpools when she marries an older man, Charlie (Michael Boatman, "Spin City", "Anger Management"), with three kids. Stephanie slowly grows into her role as a full-time stepmom while struggling to maintain some sense of her fun-loving, slightly irresponsible life. Sheryl Lee Ralph (Classic Nickelodeon UK comedy series "Moesha") stars as Stephanie's mother Maggie and rounding out the cast are the three kids played by American child actress and comedian Sydney Park ("That's So Raven", "CSI: NY") and the American child actors Tylen Williams ("The Backyardigans", "Lab Rats", "Everybody Hates Chris") and Damarr Calhoun ("Scandal"). On Sister Sister's successful six-year run, Tia won two NAACP Image Awards and three Kids' Choice Awards for Favorite Television Actress. After graduating from Pepperdine University, she made appearances in various projects, including starring with her sister once again in the Disney Channel's original movie Twitches in 2005 and again in Twitches Too, two years later. In 2006, Tia landed the role of " Melanie Barnett ," medical student turned wife of pro-football player on The Game, which landed her two more NAACP Image Award nominations.
