Nickelodeon Germany And Northern Europe Acquire Broadcast Rights To Teletoon's New "George Of The Jungle" Animated TV Series

The television industry news website C21Media is reporting the Nickelodeon news that Viacom International Media Networks Europe (VIMN Europe) has picked up the television broadcast rights to Teletoon's brand new animated series "George of the Jungle", which will be based on the original 1967 "George of the Jungle" animated series produced by Jay Ward and Bill Scott, who created "The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show", for Nickelodeon channels in Germany (Nickelodeon Germany (Deutschland)) and Northern Europe, which includes Nickelodeon Benelux (including Nickelodeon Belgium and Nickelodeon Netherlands), Nickelodeon Scandinavia (including Nickelodeon Denmark, Nickelodeon Norway, and Nickelodeon Sweden), Nickelodeon Poland, Nickelodeon Ukraine and Nick networks in the Baltics (including Nickelodeon Finland). Nickelodeon Germany and Northern Europe is expected to start to premiere and show Teletoon's latest reincarnation of the popular cartoon character "George of the Jungle" in 2014.

The new episodes of "George of the Jungle" will be produced by Singapore based kids' media company August Media Holdings alongside Canadian production company Chocolate Moose Media and will be distributed by DreamWorks Classics and August Rights:

Teletoon in Canada has revived George of the Jungle, the animation series that first debuted in 1967, with broadcasters in Germany and Spain also on board the latest version.

George of the Jungle will return to Teletoon in Canada, as well as Nickelodeon in Germany and Northern Europe and TVE in Spain in 2014.

First produced by Jay Ward in 1967, the most recent season of George of the Jungle, about a clumsy yet loveable character and his animal friends, aired in more than 50 countries during its last outing in 2007 including on Cartoon Network in the US.

The new episodes will be produced by Singapore based kids’ media company August Media Holdings alongside Canadian prodco Chocolate Moose Media and will be distributed by DreamWorks Classics and August Rights.

Founder and CEO of August Media Holdings Jyotirmoy Saha said: “Since 1967 more than three generations have loved George of the Jungle on TV. We are thrilled to bring the series back to the small screen and excited to be part of George’s future adventures.”

Teletoon director of original content Alan Gregg, said: “George is a legendary character with a rich comedic history and this all-new season will be a great fit for our line-up of side-splitting comedy series for kids.”
